Our very last wedding of 2015!! And BOY did the year go out with a BANG. We are so blessed to have had such beautiful couples with beautiful stories. Meet Katie + Luke!! Their beautiful union at Broadway was exactly how Katie had imagined it as a little girl. And with over 350 guests, you could just feel how much this couple was adored! Thank you for choosing our team to be part of such a beautiful time in both of your lives!

Southern, Bohemian inspired Austin wedding

Documents30

He’s from London, she’s a native Texan. They live in Los Angeles but since they call many places home, they picked their favorite jam, Austin Texas. Once they set their eyes on the dreamy grounds of West Vista Ranch, there was no other place for them.

Family and friends were directed by wooden signs under hanging lanterns and chandeliers to the ceremony site.  An antique sewing table held programs while wine barrels filled with Baby’s Breath and an arbor draped in vines and greenery completed the Bohemian vibe.

Carson donned a beautiful custom gown made my friend and designer, constructed of delicate floral straps that perfectly matched her boho braided hairstyle. Guests looked on under the shade of old oaks as she walked down an aisle of antique rugs to meet Matt who looked quite dapper in a navy suit and matching tie.

Large King Proteas were showcased in the bride’s stunning bouquet with additional pops of color from pink Astilbes and Dahlias. The creams, blushes and tans from the bouquets and bridesmaid dresses added softness to the day that paired well with the weathered wood and aged tin of the property.

An assortment of chairs and willow sphere lighting added a touch of Hill Country Charm to the reception while guests were treated to a variety of sweets including cookies, cakes and even an outdoor S’mores bar. The newlyweds were sent off in style under a tunnel of sparklers grateful for the support of their loved ones.

Styling with Ginny Au

dallas-wedding-stylist-ginny-au-workshop7

I had the pleasure of sitting down with the lovely and crazy talented Ginny Au for tips on styling, design and taking about the overall experience we set for our clients. It was a fabulous day held at Hickory Street Annex with talented vendors such as Bows and Arrows, Frou Frou Chic, Signora Emare, Wallflower Management, Samuelle Couture, Script Merchant and more! Thankful for these images by Charla Storey to capture the fun. We discussed styling in a natural setting, letting our approach be humble and authentic with a minimal and effortless look. Being expressive, intentional and passionate. Tempting all the senses with fragrant floral, lighting and tangible mood boards. Creating an environment for clients to experience the journey of design. Oh did I love this class!! Ginny you are indeed a genius. Thank you for inspiring Grit + Gold to be better, and to see the world in all it’s beauty.

Fine Art Styling by Grit + Gold

Fine art refers to a skill used to express the artist’s creativity, or to engage the audience’s aesthetic sensibilities, drawing the audience towards consideration of more refined or finer work of art. I love this shoot because it focuses on the small, somewhat inconspicuous objects and moments that pull the entire frame together.  The way she holds her veil or the crease in the table linen, all evoke a feeling, a setting, or experience.

Merry & Bright

As we near the end of another prosperous year, I can’t help but to reflect back at the first thoughts of what was to become Grit + Gold. It was created with love and passion for design but more importantly built around connecting with people. I believe that people are the greatest asset to this business. If it weren’t for clients, vendors and great support from those whom I love around me, it would not have flourished so much in just two little years. We have reorganized, reprioritized, and built a great brand. We have refocused on “who” our client is and “how” to market to them. We’ve spent countless hours looking over our work, understanding where we lack and committing to making improvements that will in turn make Grit + Gold stronger than ever in 2015. We are going to focus on cleaner designing in 2015 and more focus on business mindedness. Out with the wasted funds and in with larger profit margins. Ah and the art of saying “no”. We continue to be dedicated to quality and not just riding trends.

We are going to be built to last not just hype. No grit, no pearl. xoxo
