Inspired by the artistic traditions of Europe, we took our vibrant palette of deep jewel tones, terra cotta and heavy greenery to execute a lush and moody rendering. The Rosewood Mansion with its 16th century Renaissance influence created the perfect backdrop for our design. Our tabletop consisted of wood and steel constructed tables paired with upholstered chairs from AFR. All tabletop décor was kept clean and simple so not to compete with our terracotta stucco backdrop and ornate floral table runner. We used Versace dinnerware from POSH along with Pure stemware and beautiful Cutipol Rondo gold flatware. The floral runner by Lush Couture Floral was a dream! Full of color, movement and depth the runner poured from the mouth of a terra cotta tilting pot and cascaded down to the ground. Our invite suite was beautiful executed by Clara Doyle. With torn linen paper edging, the suite played nicely into our natural feel and Mediterranean influence as well as paired beautifully with the jewels of Shapiro DiamondsJar Cakery perfectly captured the pattern from the pillows on our tabletop and we kept the cake floral minimal with a simple swoop of bougainvillea. The bar was so much fun to style. I love the natural, lived in quality of a good mixed cocktail. We went for a Mint and Walnut Julep with beautiful details such as fresh mint, walnuts, Italian Port Wine, figs and a touch of Belgium linens. Our beautiful model was dolled up by Wendy Zerrudo with a soft updo and later was dropped for romantic waves. Our dresses from Winnie Couture were the sight of sophistication and romance with soft detailing in lace cap sleeves, intricate backing and soft silhouette lines.

Sarah + Kyle | White Sparrow Barn

dallas-wedding-planner-grit-and-gold-the-white-sparrow-barn

Sisters are the best.  They can help you with your homework. Guide you with your wardrobe. Maybe even fudge the truth with your parents if needed.  And sometimes, they will even introduce you to your future groom. Which is exactly how Kyle met Sarah.  Sarah was good friends with Kyle’s sister Ashley.  Sarah had hung out with the family on so many occasions that his mother even started to introduce Sarah as “the girl I want Kyle to marry.”   So after a few subtle hints from the family, the two started dating after Ashley’s wedding.

Kyle went all out for the proposal.  Taking it back to where it began, where his sister got married.  A tree wrapped in twinkly lights and a table filled with her favorite flowers and photos of the two of them. Of course she said yes and was surprised again after her family and friends appeared for an engagement party.

Fall being their favorite season; it wasn’t hard for the couple to decided on an October wedding.  And even with the White Sparrow still under construction, no paint on the walls, Sarah immediately fell in love with the place. It would fit perfectly with their palette of burgundy and blush and give the space a whimsical, romantic feel.

The bridesmaids were glamorous in a deep merlot while the groomsmen looked so handsome in their navy suit and both provided a stark contrast to the complete white of the venue.  All eyes were on Sarah as she made her way down the aisle in her Justin Alexander dress and delicate floral crown. Their favorite bible verse was featured at the altar and hung between two wreaths.

After the ceremony, family and friends hit up cocktail hour for the mimosa bar and mini quiche while the ceremony space was completely transformed for the reception.  Runners of greenery, flowers in rich hues, gold chargers and an array of candles made the space feel more intimate and gave the romantic feel Sarah was looking for.

The breakfast theme was continued at the reception with chicken and waffles and biscuit sliders. Plates were cleared and tables moved so guests could tear up the dance floor.  The dessert table was a sight to behold.  A colorfully painted background highlighted a variety of desserts including macaroons, mini pumpkin pies, mini s’mores, and cheesecake bites.  Family and friends were gifted honey from the bride’s uncle before sending off the newlyweds in sparkler tunnel.

A Holiday Party with Poo-Pourri

Two of my favorite things collided in the production of this event, one… meeting the amazing people behind Poo-Pourri  (if you don’t know, now you know) and getting to work within the walls of a building that was once St. John’s Methodist Church built in 1911. The space is simply inspiring! Joining a team of incredible vendors, we coordinated the holiday event for the corporate folks of Poo-Pourri complete with aerial show, casino tables, photo booth and fun details all around.

Vibrant and Vintage at The Waterstone in Celina

dallas-wedding-planner-thewaterstone-grit-and-gold-perez-photography

Two right swipes was just the beginning of this modern day romance. After a few weeks of texting, this sweet couple had their first date at the Comedy Club in Addison, Texas and they both knew it was meant to be.

John being a lighting designer for Onstage Systems, went all out for the proposal. Under the disguise as a celebration for Staci obtaining her masters degree, John decked out Staci’s house with a lighting display synchronized to music. Staci had already seen John’s displays before but this time the lights were dancing along to “Marry You” but Bruno Mars. Staci of course said yes and the two started to plan a wedding for the ages.

Knowing they wanted a outdoor ceremony with a rustic glam reception, the pair chose the Venue at Waterstone for their big day. October 10 already held a special place in Staci’s heart as it was her parents’ anniversary. As soon as mom and dad granted them permission on sharing the date, things started to fall into place.

After deciding on a palette of mint, blush and gold the next step was the dress. Every fabric, beading technique, and lace pattern was hand-picked by Staci in her custom dress by Nha Khanh. At the end, this blush dress was everything the bride had ever dreamt of.

All eyes were on the bride as she walked through a pair of vintage doors and down the petal strewn aisle to her groom. Guests seated on old church pews watched as the two said their vows under an antique crystal chandelier.

After a tear-jerking ceremony, the party moved to the barn. Gold and glitz was in every corner and deep pinks, whites, and blush roses were overflowing. Just a glance at the five tiered cake or the head table made people go weak in the knees. If they weren’t lined up for the Photo Wagon, the band Signed Sealed Delivered had family and friends out of their seats and dancing the night away. When the reception came to an end, John and Staci were sent off in style. Running under a tunnel of sparklers, the newlyweds hopped in a vintage mint Thunderbird and rode off into their happily ever after.
