Houston residents, Liz + Hunter grew up in Fort Worth and since that’s where their love story started, it only made sense to come back for their wedding. They chose Broadway Baptist and the Modern Art Museum for their ceremony and reception locations.
We kept the ceremony space simple with flanked arrangements and tons of votive candlelight on the wood carved altar walls to pay tribute to the simplicity of their own parent’s weddings. Liz wanted a natural feel of garden paired with their reception venue, the Modern Art Museum. Our team had to create a design that felt soft and approachable like the outdoors but inside the walls of the museum. Because of venue limitations on hanging, we partnered with Beyond Lighting to bring in heavy lighting posts that would allow us to hang cafe lighting indoors creating an outdoor feel. We affixed greenery to our lights, again giving texture with lighting and height making an illustration of garden seating. Soft dove grey linens paired with simple floral in white, grey and heavy greens gave the perfect complement to the concrete/grey walls of the Modern. We added other garden inspiration with a hedge wall escort card display, low hedging playing facade to our band setup, wooden bar fronts and furniture vignettes near the reflecting pool. The cake was simple and modern with a grey wash of color near the top tier. Floral detail behind and in front to show how lovely the blooms and architecture become one.
