Amanda + Nick | The Milestone

You only need to turn onto the entrance of the Milestone to understand why Nick and Amanda picked this venue for their special day.  The beautiful white mansion, rustic red barn, and towering oaks in Aubrey, Texas are more than enough to make anyone swoon.

Walking into the Grand Foyer, guests were greeted with vintage handkerchiefs just in case they were overwhelmed with tears of joy during the ceremony. In lieu of a traditional guestbook, friends and family were asked to write down their favorite verse found in the family bible.

Looking quite debonair in a navy suit that perfectly matched the bridesmaids, Nick awaited his bride at the end of the aisle.  Amanda wore her hair in a glamorous up-do to highlight the sheer back of her beautiful dress. Accompanied by her father, the two walked down the greenery-adorned aisle to meet her groom. Standing in front of the 20-foot window wall with elegant ivory drapes, the couple said their “I Dos.”

After the ceremony, guest moseyed over to the barn for drinks, dinner, and dancing. Centerpieces of celosia, viburnum, amaryllis, and hanging amaranths continued the theme of deep berry hues and popped against the champagne overlays.  Hanging lights and crystal chandeliers lit up the dance floor while the band played under the LOVE marquee.

After elegant toasts from both families left everyone reaching for their handkerchiefs, it was time for cake.  A 3-tiered naked cake decorated in roses, astilbe, and privet berries stole the show while the Texas-shaped groom’s cake showcased the couple’s adorable puppy.

While loved ones lined up for a sparkler farewell, the new Mr. & Mrs. were able to steal one last dance alone. #LoveBrauchtThemTogether

Summertime brunch’n with The Brides of North Texas

When life gives you lemons, add vodka and throw a party.  That is just what we did when coming up with the concept for the Fall/Winter 2015 reveal for the Brides of North Texas.  Grit and Gold was privileged with the honor of planning & styling their semiannual brunch at the historic T&P Station. To beat the Texas summer heat, we designed a lawn feel, bringing the outdoors inside.

Black and white honeycomb linens perfectly complemented the 1920s architecture of the venue while allowing the flowers to pop. Arrangements from Stems of Dallas displaying orange tulips, yellow ranunculus, hydrangeas, and combinations of mangos, apricots and lemons caught everyone’s eye and smelled good enough to eat. Everyone was sent away with a yummy lemon bar treat from The Jenny Layne Bakery.

Lounge furniture, boxwood hedges, and large umbrellas lent a feel of an easy garden party and made everybody feel right at home.  Top vendors of the area were able to mingle with ease while sipping on mimosas and sampling some southern favorites like chicken and waffles.
