Jolene + Kevin | Nasher Sculpture Garden

Jolene and Kevin’s modern outdoor wedding took place under the stars at Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, a museum in the heart of the Dallas Arts District.  This museum is one of the coolest spots in town, and was a perfect fit for New York natives, Jolene and Kevin and their contemporary vibe.  The ceremony took place in the outdoor amphitheater (this setup was a first for the Nasher!!).  Guests sat upon hand-dyed fabric cushions custom made by the bride and her mother. Hanging blooms in white paired with a twinkling lit altar towered over the the bride and groom as they stood atop a vibrant kilim rug.  A flawless match for this uber-chic bride, Jolene’s maids wore stunningly sleek gowns in pure white.  After the ceremony, guests were transported to a magical garden reception where they dined under café lights, surrounded by stunning architecture and exquisitely manicured gardens.  The couple’s elegant cake display featured a trio of crisp, modern cakes adorned with vibrant floral and a hand-dyed bottom tier in shades of blue.  Guests danced the night away under the stars, and right before their big exit at the end of the night, the bride surprised everyone by changing into a super fun black sequin jumpsuit!  We thoroughly enjoyed planning an event capturing Jolene and Kevin’s fabulous style and vibrant energy.

Amanda + Nick | The Milestone

dallas-wedding-planner-the-milestone-grit-and-gold-anna-smith-photography21

You only need to turn onto the entrance of the Milestone to understand why Nick and Amanda picked this venue for their special day.  The beautiful white mansion, rustic red barn, and towering oaks in Aubrey, Texas are more than enough to make anyone swoon.

Walking into the Grand Foyer, guests were greeted with vintage handkerchiefs just in case they were overwhelmed with tears of joy during the ceremony. In lieu of a traditional guestbook, friends and family were asked to write down their favorite verse found in the family bible.

Looking quite debonair in a navy suit that perfectly matched the bridesmaids, Nick awaited his bride at the end of the aisle.  Amanda wore her hair in a glamorous up-do to highlight the sheer back of her beautiful dress. Accompanied by her father, the two walked down the greenery-adorned aisle to meet her groom. Standing in front of the 20-foot window wall with elegant ivory drapes, the couple said their “I Dos.”

After the ceremony, guest moseyed over to the barn for drinks, dinner, and dancing. Centerpieces of celosia, viburnum, amaryllis, and hanging amaranths continued the theme of deep berry hues and popped against the champagne overlays.  Hanging lights and crystal chandeliers lit up the dance floor while the band played under the LOVE marquee.

After elegant toasts from both families left everyone reaching for their handkerchiefs, it was time for cake.  A 3-tiered naked cake decorated in roses, astilbe, and privet berries stole the show while the Texas-shaped groom’s cake showcased the couple’s adorable puppy.

While loved ones lined up for a sparkler farewell, the new Mr. & Mrs. were able to steal one last dance alone. #LoveBrauchtThemTogether

Fine Art Styling by Grit + Gold

dallas-wedding-planner-fine-art-stylist-grit-and-gold24

Fine art refers to a skill used to express the artist’s creativity, or to engage the audience’s aesthetic sensibilities, drawing the audience towards consideration of more refined or finer work of art. I love this shoot because it focuses on the small, somewhat inconspicuous objects and moments that pull the entire frame together.  The way she holds her veil or the crease in the table linen, all evoke a feeling, a setting, or experience.

Sultry + Stunning and Warwick Melrose Hotel

Reminiscing about this styled shoot from a couple years back. It was so different for me, design wise, more dark and romantic than anything I’d ever done. Love looking back through work and seeing where I pushed myself, made new friends and had tons of fun! Plus my hubby modeled here and he’s quite the eye candy. 😉

Planned Proposal designed by Grit+Gold

We were so excited to be a part of this very special styled shoot. John reached out to us to help design a styled shoot for his girlfriend Janet. But not any styled shoot. He wanted her to think that they were just doing a shoot together but it would actually end up being his proposal to her. OMG! We were elated and ready to get to work designing a concept!  It’s a sign of true love when your fiance-to-be sets up a photographer, a stylist, a hair and makeup artist, and even rents some very cool vintage props. Our shoot took place at the shop of Sugar Bee Sweets where we set a ice cream parlour themed table. We started with just shooting in the car, Dolly, which Janet was well aware of. Then we moved to the ice cream portion of the shoot. They were adorable as they played with sprinkles and toppings. Then the moment came where John got down on one knee and asked Janet’s hand in marriage. Ya’ll it was the sweetest moment and were were just overjoyed to be part of it. Congrats you two!
