Meredith + Josh | Ashton Depot

This Tuscany inspired wedding is so dear to me. Meredith + Josh, their family and their trust in our team is the epitome of why I started my planning + design business. With her mother and father living in California, she need full-service assistance to pull together her day. Josh proposed in Napa Valley and California was near and dear to them both, so it only made sense to bring that Napa/Old World feel to them in Fort Worth. While most might just see Fort Worth history in the walls of the Ashton Depot, we felt that it’s historic marble floors and towering arched windows could definitely take on a different transformation. So we set to work designing a soft, romantic scene that would tie the two very different places together.

First we started with her ceremony which took place in the terrace of the Ashton. We wanted to emphasize the beautiful, natural greenery that already adorns the space along with a beautiful stone water feature. We kept it natural, free flowing on the floral arch and paired with native grass and greenery planters to enclose the space making it feel like a garden.

And what guest can resist a glass of champagne to greet them on a beautiful Texas Spring day?! Guests sipped while they waiting for the processional to begin.

Moving into the ballroom, we chose pale dusty blue linens and florals heavy in organic greenery, soft creams, white and hints of dusty blush blooms. A draped entrance provided a simple, yet statement entrance.

The father of the bride’s favorite Padron cigars were a must so our team made sure to set a beautiful spread for him and all his guys!

Reed + Chas at Howell Family Farms

Not many people meet their soul mate at 5am in the airport waiting for a flight to Las Vegas but for Reed and Chas it was meant to be.  Even though they were on a trip with a large group to celebrate New Years Eve, the two spent most of the time on their own getting to know one another.  Thinking he had nothing to lose on their return to Texas, he asked if he could come down to see her in Houston before she went back to school in Boston. Thankfully, she said yes and the couple went on their first date, both thinking this could actually go somewhere. Within a month of Reed returning to school, Chas made a trip up to visit and the two decided to make it official. When it came time to propose, Chas did it right.  Planning a whole weekend around museum visits, dinners, and ice cream.  Capping it off with a romantic walk in the park that ended in front of Reed’s favorite tree where Chas got down on one knee.
~
“All the fun and memorable things we did this weekend, these are the types of things I want for us to be able to do for the rest of our lives.”
 ~
Now what girl is gonna say no to that?
After an ecstatic yes, Chas told Reed they needed to hurry up as they had dinner reservations but could freshen up at his apartment beforehand. Reed went from crying to laughing as she opened the door was surprised yet again when she was greeted by about 20 of their closest friends.

After multiple venue visits, the couple were close to losing hope until they happened upon Howell Family Farms in Arlington, Texas.  They finally found a place with an air of whimsical romance and a touch of nature.  Since Reed and Chas both love the fall season, they chose a palette incorporating all of the seasons colors.  Deep wines, earthy greens, sage and periwinkle played made its way into the bridesmaid dresses, centerpieces and invitation suite from Paper & Posies.

Although they had originally wanted their October ceremony to take place under a beautiful pecan tree, the weather had other plans. Thankfully,  the rain had stopped just in time so they were able to open the barn doors that added more natural light and lent the touch of green from the outdoors they both loved.

Reed walked down the aisle in Romona Keveza gown with delicate lace details depicting leaves and florals that perfectly complemented her soft updo with greenery accents. One of their favorite moments during their ceremony was the tree planting.

“For us this resembled how our love would grow from the ground up, with expanding roots deep and outward into the ground and a sturdy trunk built on the foundation of Christ’s love for us that allows us to love one another.”

The romantic nature theme continued upstairs at the reception. A beautiful leaf backdrop was constructed for their three cakes. Hues of burgundy, pinks and greens graced each table along with a photo of destinations special to the couple. Guests sipped on Honeybees, a signature cocktail featuring lavender, sweet tea, vodka and lemonade while breaking it down on the dance floor.

The reception was extended an extra 45 minutes after a train broke down and blocked the entrance. But I don’t think anyone minded too much. As soon as the train was cleared, guests made their way downstairs where they were gifted seed packets and wedding cookies from Hurley House before sending the new Mr. + Mrs. off under a sparkler tunnel.
